Description
Grown in the Bener Meriah districts of the highlands of Aceh in western Sumatra, Indonesia where the soil is enriched with volcanic matter – an ideal landscape for cultivating certified Fairtrade Organic coffee. This coffee is produced by Kokowagayo, a women-owned and women-managed coffee cooperative growing organic coffee in the region using sustainable practices.
Third-party certification cuts through empty words
When we say that as part of our company values we support our coffee farming communities and the protection of the environment, we don’t ask you: ‘take our word for it’. We want those values to stand on their own and want you to be able to rely on independent third party certification. Through our longstanding relationship with Fairtrade we have been able to witness first hand this transformative impact.

Found the Sumatra coffee too strong for my taste. Suspect it was dark roasted when I would have preferred a medium roast to be able to enjoy the naturally rich flavour of the coffee beans. Pity.

Sumatra is one of our darker roast singles, but it is also part of several blends that fall within the medium roast range, including Fredrick and Sunshine Coast Blends, as well as the darker Woodford Blend. You may like to try one of these blends for a milder experience.
